Your home installation system:

When you are deciding what style of shower you require, you need to determine the type of water heating system you have installed in your home. This will affect your choice of shower and the shower’s performance. To identify the the type of system you have installed, there is a guide outlined below. You could ask a qualified installer or call our customer service department on 01405 818560. This will ensure you pick the correct shower and enjoy your showering experience to it’s full potential.

Low pressure systems:

Gravity fed hot water systems:
The usual configuration consists of cold water storage tank in the loft and hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard. This is the water supply traditionally installed in UK homes.

High pessure systems:
Instantaneous gas water system heater combi boiler: combination boilers are increasingly used in the UK , and wall or floor standing boiler heats the water as it is used.

Unvented systems:
Hot water is stored in a large cylinder under pressure. This system has no requirement for a cold water storage tank.

Different Shower Types:

Mixer:
Hot and cold water are combined in asingle mixer unit, ideal for homes with a plentiful supply of hot water, and are able to provide a higher flow rate than electric showers.
Compatible systems: Gravity fed, instantaneous gas water heater or combi boiler, and unvented.

Electric:
Cold water is supplied directly from mains supply, and is heated by passing over a heating element in the shower. This means that it is economical and unaffected by other household fittings.
Compatible systems: Gravity fed, instantaneous gas water heater or combi boiler, and unvented. These are supplied directly by cold mains feed.

Pumped Electric Feed:
These are needed when cold mains pressure is insufficient. An integral pump draws water from a cold water storage tank and boosts water through the electric heating element to provide an ecoomic shower.
Compatible systems: Gravity fed cold supply.

Shower Panel:
Hot and cold water is combined in a single mixer unit which requires a pumped pressurised system.
Compatible systems: Gravity fed hot (must be pumped and give a minimum of 2 bar pressure), instantaneous gas water heater or combi boiler, and unvented. (Note: Combi boilersand pumps must give a minimum of 2 bar performance)

Bathrooms Superstore High Quality Low Cost Bathrooms, Bathroom Suites and Free Standing Roll Top Baths.

Visitors to B&K Expo at Excel earlier this month were surprised to come face to face with Sharon Osborne, Simon Cowel and Louis Walsh.

Merlyn Industries UK Ltd have been exceeding expectation with their new ranges and additions to their extensive portfolio so it was only fitting that the three illustrious judges should be called up to give them the thumbs up! The “celebrity” guests also brightened up a rainy Monday for the hard working visitors to the show.

Dana Davies, Merlyn UK’s Managing Director says, “This was our first time exhibiting at B&K Expo so our expectations were limited. We have been very impressed by the quality of visitor and the ambience of the show allowed for proper, meaningful discussions with clients.”

“We used EXPO to showcase several new ranges and additions to the Merlyn portfolio. We were delighted with the positive reaction. Sponsoring the Cafe allowed us some fun too and used the show to network and promote everything Merlyn over a latte or two! The X Factor “twist” gave everyone a taste of what Merlyn is all about, attention grabbing style!”.

The big Merlyn story was the Concept 3+ a range of stylish, traditional enclosures and the long awaited debut of Series 8 – a stunning range of cutting edge, extremely high-specified enclosures. Merlyn also enjoyed huge interest in their new range of Bath screens officially unveiled at the show. The new range of fun and stylish Duck Boards were also exhibited for the first time.

Also shown for the first time was Series 7, with its fresh look and many design and functionality improvements, and was really well received, particularly the range of Series 7 black granite-effect trays.

Visitors to the show were also able to book training sessions at one of two new state of the art training/showrooms conveniently situated in the North (York) and South (Milton Keynes) of the UK.
